Grenada Sailing Club offers sailing education in conjunction with our partner, LTD Sailing “Living the Dream,” an American Sailing Association affiliate based in Grenada since 2013. The American Sailing Association (ASA) is the premier sail training provider in the U.S., focused primarily on recreational sailing. We use their courses to teach you to sail from the basics to offshore passage-making.
Basic Keelboat (ASA 101) is the start of your sailing education. Come and learn the basics on the beautiful waters of Grand Anse Bay! We are also offering the new ASA Keelboat 2 (ASA 102) course which will take your sailing to the next level and prepare you to take our boats out on your own.
Discover Sailing
Our Discover Sailing courses provide a perfect introduction to sailing for beginners. These courses allow participants to test the waters and experience the joy of sailing in a safe and supportive environment, guided by experienced instructors.
ASA 101 – Basic Keelboat
The ASA 101 – Basic Keelboat courses are designed to teach fundamental sailing skills. Participants learn about boat handling, sail trim, navigation, and safety procedures, providing a solid foundation for further sailing adventures. These courses are ideal for beginners looking to gain confidence and competence in handling keelboats.
ASA 102 – Keelboat 2
Our ASA 102 – Keelboat 2 courses build upon the skills learned in the ASA 101 course. Participants deepen their understanding of sail trim, boat handling techniques, navigation, and safety protocols. These courses are designed to enhance sailors’ proficiency and prepare them for more independent sailing experiences.
ASA 103 – Basic Coastal Cruising
The ASA 103 – Basic Coastal Cruising courses are designed for sailors looking to expand their skills beyond basic keelboat sailing. Participants learn about coastal navigation, anchoring, and cruising techniques, preparing them for sailing adventures in coastal waters. These courses are ideal for sailors aiming to become more confident and competent in handling cruising sailboats.
Introduction to One Design Racing
We offer exciting One Design Races for sailors looking to experience fast-paced and competitive sailing. Participants can join weekly races where they can test their skills and tactics against other sailors in identical boats, creating a level playing field that emphasizes sailing prowess. These races are not only thrilling but also provide valuable learning opportunities for sailors to improve their racing abilities.
