Sunday Funday J/80 Race Series – Grenada 2026
If you’re looking for competitive sailing with a relaxed Caribbean vibe, the Sunday Funday J/80 Race Series hosted by the Grenada Sailing Club is set to deliver an exciting month of racing this March. Designed as a one-design competition exclusively for J/80 yachts, this series combines structured racing with a fun, social atmosphere.
Event Overview
The series will take place across four Sundays:
- March 1, 2026
- March 15, 2026
- March 22, 2026
- March 29, 2026
Each race day will begin and end at Grand Anse, offering consistent conditions and a scenic racing backdrop.
Organizing Authority & Venue
The event is organized by the Grenada Sailing Club, with race headquarters located at Port Louis Marina on all race days. Competitors will gather here for registration, briefings, and race-day coordination.
Class & Eligibility
This is a strict J/80 one-design event, meaning all participating yachts must be of the J/80 class. This ensures close, competitive racing where skill and strategy take center stage.
Rules & Regulations
Racing will follow the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) 2025–2028. Sailing Instructions may modify certain rules, and all boats must comply with applicable safety standards. Notably:
- No national prescriptions will apply
- Boats must carry VHF radios capable of communicating on Channel 11
- Communication during racing is restricted except in emergencies
Registration Details
Participants can register online via the Grenada Sailing Club website. Final registration must be completed in person by 1300 hrs on Sunday, March 1, 2026.
Competitor Briefing
A mandatory briefing will take place at 1300 hrs on March 1 at Port Louis Marina, G Dock. This session will cover race procedures, safety protocols, and any last-minute updates.

Safety Requirements

Communication Protocol
The official notice board location will be announced in the Sailing Instructions. The race committee will broadcast updates via VHF Channel 11. Outside of emergencies, boats are prohibited from sending or receiving private communications during racing.
Prizes & Awards
Daily prize-giving ceremonies will follow each race, with the venue announced in the Sailing Instructions. At the end of the series, overall prizes will be awarded to the top two finishers.
Insurance & Liability
All participating boats must carry valid third-party liability insurance. Competitors enter at their own risk, and the organizing authority accepts no responsibility for damage, injury, or loss associated with the event.
Media & Image Rights
By participating, competitors grant the organizers and sponsors the right to use images and footage from the event for promotional and media purposes without compensation.
